Your new tailor-made shirts, if cared for by the instructions sewn on the shirt tail, will perform to the highest standards in which they were manufactured. When taken to a commercial laundry, you should express that these are tailor-made shirts and to care for them strictly as the care label implies.
The most important aspect of shirt care is to make sure the shirt is tumble dried and not spin dried. A moderate pressing heat is all that is necessary to smooth the collar and cuffs.
Please allow 3-5 laundering for shirt to shrink to size.

Every handcrafted tailor-made garment is created using the best fabrics in the world, therefore, it is important to understand how to care for them in order to enhance their longevity. Most people take their clothes to the dry cleaners to be laundered. Unfortunately, standard dry cleaning can ruin clothes and limit the life of them as well. Excessive heat and chemicals can shrink the clothes or wear them much faster than they should.
Perchloroethylene (PERC) is used to clean garments in the dry cleaning process. PERC is known to be a hazardous chemical that is diligently monitored by OSHA and the Environmental Protection Agency. PERC, is the dominant chemical solvent used in dry cleaning. It is a clear, colorless liquid that has a sharp, sweet odor and evaporates quickly. It is an effective cleaning solvent and is used by most professional drycleaners because it removes stains and dirt from all common types of fabrics. According to the Environment Health and Safety Online:
The extent of any health effects from PERC exposure depends on the amount of PERC and how long the exposure lasts. People exposed to high levels of PERC, even for brief periods, may experience serious symptoms. Those include dizziness, fatigue, headaches, confusion, nausea, and skin, lung, eye and mucous membrane irritation. Repeated exposure to high levels can also irritate the skin, eyes, nose and mouth, and can cause liver damage and respiratory failure (2011).
According to Living Green (2011), a manufactured chlorinated hydrocarbon, PERC is a known to be a hazardous air pollutant linked to increased risks of certain cancers. Additionally, Living Green (2011) states:
By simply bringing clothing home from being cleaned, you release PERC into the air, making your indoor air all the more toxic. Runoff from dry cleaning businesses has also resulted in PERC mixing in with local water sources, but so far not much contamination has been linked to this.
For more information on this topic please read the article on the Living Green website. Caring for your garments should be as painless and easy as possible.
